Matt is the SNC’s East Subregion Representative, covering Alpine, Inyo, and Mono Counties, and is based in Mammoth Lakes. Matt works with partners throughout the Subregion to develop projects and support efforts that protect, conserve, and enhance the unique resources and communities of the Sierra.
Matt was born and raised in the Gold Country of the Northern Sierra Foothills, where his appreciation and passion for the natural environment and small towns of the Sierra was fostered at a young age. He went on to receive a BS in Parks and Natural Resource Management from CSU, Chico, along with a graduate certificate in Geographic Information Systems from the University of Denver. Matt’s passion for the outdoors, and exploring new mountain ranges, led him to the Tetons in Wyoming where he gained valuable natural resource experience working for both the public and private sector. Eventually, he returned to the Sierra where he planned and implemented forest health projects for the Tahoe Resource Conservation District and managed the aquatic invasive species prevention program for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.
Matt feels extremely fortunate to call the beautiful Eastern Sierra home. In his time away from work, he can be found exploring the vast Range of Light by foot, bike, truck, and skis.
