Plumas County Supervisor

Plumas County District 3 Supervisor Sherrie Thrall took office January 2007.  Her prime areas of interest include land use, conservation, forest management and California water issues.

The Supervisor brings an interesting mix of experience to the Board Supervisors.  She was raised in a Texas farming family (her first job was brushing cotton away from the blowers in the back of a cotton picker).  She gained experience working in a law office in the private sector and owned and operated a real estate brokerage business for a number of years.

After the sale of her real estate business she worked for the Air Force in military family housing and later managing air base real estate.  While working for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in Sacramento in their real estate management and disposal branch her areas of responsibility included real estate management of Civil Works Projects as well as Army, Army Reserve and Air Force properties from as far South as Camp Parks in Dublin/Pleasanton to the Oregon Border.

Sherrie became actively involved in the Almanor Basin Community and Plumas County serving on the Board of Directors for the Almanor Basin Community Center, Plumas Corporation, and Plumas Rural Services.  She was also elected to the Board of Directors of two Special District (Chester Public Utility District and Almanor Recreation and Park District).  Sherrie represented the Almanor Basin and Plumas County as Chair of the Plumas County Commission on Aging, Chair of the 5 county Area Agency on Aging and at the state level on the Triple A Council of California.

Building on her background in real estate and land use Sherrie was a founding member of the Almanor Basin Watershed Advisory Committee and served on the Plumas County Planning Commission prior to her election to the Board of Supervisors.

Supervisor Thrall is currently on the Board of Directors and past Chair of both the Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District and the Plumas County Community Development Commission and Housing Authority.  She is Chair of the Plumas County Transportation Commission, Vice Chair of the 11 county Northern Rural Training & Employment Consortium Board of Directors and past member of the California State Association of Counties Board of Directors and the Lassen Park Foundation Board of Directors.
