(Above and below) Volunteers at Lake Almanor and the South Fork of the American River
On Saturday, September 20, 2014, more than 5,600 volunteers joined together to remove more than 90 tons of trash and recyclables from rivers throughout the Sierra Nevada as part of the Sixth Annual Great Sierra River Cleanup. The Sierra Nevada Conservancy would like to thank all of the volunteers, partners, andwho made this year’s Great Sierra River Cleanup such a huge success! Here are the final results:
- 5,650 volunteers
- 180,408 pounds total waste removed
– 165,135 pounds of trash
– 15,273 pounds of recyclables
- 176 sites
- 567 river miles cleaned
