Elliott Vander Kolk
CDBG-NDR Project Coordinator
Auburn , CA 95603
Elliott coordinates the National Disaster Resiliency Competition (NDRC) project out of the Auburn office. NDRC is a Community Development Block Grant awarded to the State of California by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to fund forest and community resiliency efforts in Tuolumne County.
Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Elliott fell in love in with the Sierra Nevada while conducting botanical research over the course of two summers in college. His professional background spans public land conservation and forest carbon offset project development and certification—as well as a brief stint driving a food truck around the San Francisco Bay Area. His primary interests are in pursuing collaborative policies and innovative forest management practices that will lead to largescale forest restoration in the Sierra Nevada.
In his free time, Elliott enjoys exploring the Sierra Nevada and beyond as an avid backpacker, whitewater rafter, and aspiring mountain biker. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies, Economics, and Politics from Claremont McKenna College and a Master of Forestry degree from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
